Part 83: Dight NPC Chatter 7

Welcome back!

: It means we can go fishing again. And it means that the Village of Dight can become as it was before.

: I man, you're so young and all. And not even one of the Dragon Folk. But none of that matters, really. A boy from another land has saved Dight. We People of the Flying Dragon recognize and praise you as our hero! Wow, you were great! That was fantastic! Thank you, brave warrior Justin!

: May the light shining form this Spear of Heroes forever protect Dight and the People of the Flying Dragon.

Seriously, this guy's dialog has a branch for each possible party state, I swear.

: It's all been just as the legend said. But I never dreamed our hero would be a young lad from another land. When I saw you standing there on the Dragon's Nest, I went numb. I thought "Yes, our hero has come"! As long as the Spear of Heroes is at the Dragon's Nest, Dight'll enjoy the Spirits' protection. We have a hero.

: I mean, you were gone quite a while even after the rain had stopped. When the rain started falling, we the people of this village, we who have grown up here in Dight, we knew we couldn't bring ourselves to live in some foreign land. We all knew that, if you could not do something at that tower to stop the rain, it would be the end of us. You must be exhausted after that trip. Please stay and rest a while here in the village. Really, I insist.

: Fishing's a source of pride here in Dight, and the fishermen are very upset about the poor fishing lately.

: Gadwin ofter said that if there's anyone who could do it, it's Justin. Now I know what he meant! Oh! Good news! The boy who was taken to Dr. Alma's is doing much better now.

: Heh heh. OK, now I'm embarrassed.

: Hey, it wasn't just me, you know. We have Feena to thank, too.

: Hold on! Wait, Justin.

: Three cheers for Justin and Feena! Thank you thank you thank you! We're eternally grateful to you both.

: That's me. Pretty amazing, eh? ♪ Look, I've got this armband as proof!

: So, anyway, maybe next time you could let the non-toxic rain fall. I really wanna try playing with it. Huh? Could you, huh? Please let the non-toxic rain fall!

: I'm afraid even a hero can't do something like that. ♥

: That means there's less room for me to become a hero! So that means that, besides Gadwin, Justin is my rival, too! Be good sports with me, your rival!

: Ha ha! Yes, and the same to you!

Yeah, Sue just straight-up slapped a kid for pretty much no reason. With his mom standing right there.

: Ouch! Why, you...! You're a pretty tough little kid, huh? What's your name, anyway?

: OK, listen here, Sue! Next time I catch some fish, you can eat some. Dight's fish is very delicious!

: Gadwin's clan is descended from the blood of the dragon Dight, who was spread across this village. His purity and strength are proof of that. Indeed, he may be one of a kind. Even if other warriors were allowed to try, only Gadwin could succeed. No ordinary man could catch the dragon.

: Heroes? He's talking about Justin! Hee hee. Way to go, Justin!

: Oh, Justin, Oh Great Hero Hee hee. Way to go! Hey, that's not right! Look, I'm trying to cast a congratulatory spell here, so please don't interrupt me.

Seriously, sometimes I don't even have to write the jokes.

: was just as it says in the legend. You're the hero who's accepted by the Spirits, as in the Angelou legend.

: Oh, really? Then you know something about Angelou?

: OK, that's it. We're going to Alent!

: Wouldn't it be great if Dight could one day be as prosperous as the legendary Angelou Civilization?

: Thanks to you, we can fish again. Everyone will be happy again!

: mound shall be called Justin's Mound!

: Wow! Did you hear that, Justin? It's called Justin's Mound now!

: Heh heh. Now I'm blushing.

: This is the kind of thing I'd imagined when I decided to be an adventurer!

: We, the People of the Dragon, will never forget the hero Rand Justin and his bravery. We will all welcome you heartily any time you honor us with a visit. There are no words that can fully express the depth of our gratitude. We can only say "thank you".

Phew. And next, Gadwin rejoins, and we catch up on the NPCs that change their dialog.

: Just a bit ago, an old man was here telling me how grateful he is to you.

: Even a brave warrior should be proud to have the gratitude of the elders. So, you'll be traveling with Gadwin? You know, sometimes Gadwin pushes the pace a little too hard. But it's because he's so devoted to his calling. I just wanted you to understand that.

: Hey, when folks are in trouble, it's only natural to try to help!

: We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Gadwin and Justin!

: at the Dragon's Nest, as proof that a hero has rescued Dight.

: You looked so heroic. I'll never forget that scene! ♥

: Yeah. I'm going with Justin to the Twin Towers.

: The Twin Towers, huh? So I guess you'll be going by Gumbo first. I know I needn't worry. you can take care of yourself. But still, please be careful out there!

: Hmm... you got that right. Justin's got quite a reputation now.

: Heh heh. So what else would ya expect from an adventurer?!

: the hero Justin, who crossed the End of the World, and the girl Feena who so wisely chose the mirror.

: As for us... we'll never forget Dight. Each time I look at this armband I will remember.

: Please come back to see us again. We'll be sure to shine that spear every day.

: Yeah... from now on, the only rain you'll get is ocean spray and the kind of rain that's good for the soil.

: Well, all right, then! If this kid can do it, then my son Tilt oughta be an adventurer! Dight's first adventurer!

: Hmm... I guess Tilt might make a good adventurer.

: Yes, maybe Tilt will cross the End of the World someday. He could come visit our home towns, eh?

: When Tilt gets bigger, he and I can travel on an adventure together, to the End of the World--and beyond.

: If he comes to Parm, I'd be glad to show him around.

: thrilled. I only hope that we can regain the protection of the Spirits.

: There's nothing to fear. The Spirits will be protecting us.

: If Mr. Gadwin believes the Spirits will protect us, I believe it too.

And that's that! See you next time in Gumbo!
